[It takes her two days to get up the nerve to even think about leaving the house again after the dust storm. It takes her nearly two days just to convince herself to leave her room, and when she does, she discovers that new people have moved in. A man she's never seen who's apparently now occupying the garage, a woman she's never seen who's in the bedroom down the hall from her. She feels unease and it almost drives her back to her room, but Max isn't going to cower in her room any longer than she already has.
She's not expecting to see another new face when she walks into the kitchen to grab a can of peaches from the cupboard, but there she is, at the small table. She's much younger than the other two new people, which gives her an advantage here. She looks like she's the same age as the rest of the kids in the house.]
Hey. [Her voice is hesitant and she glances at the brunette over her shoulder as she gets out the food and grabs a spoon to eat it with.] I guess you're one of the new people?
